Spring 2024 Scholarship Requirements

Purpose: : The purpose of this program is to provide financial support to 10 high school seniors, and/or current college students, attending an accredited two- or four-year college/university, community or junior college, vocational technical, or trade school. 

 

Scholarship Amount: $1,000 per recipient

 

Application Period: January 9 - March 22, 2024

Eligibility Guidelines:

  1. Applicants must be a Buckingham County resident. 

  2. Applicant must: 

    1. ​be a graduating high school senior; or 

    2. be a high school equivalency (HSE) or general education (GED) recipient; or 

    3. be a current student attending an accredited two- or four-year college/university, community or junior college, vocational technical, or trade school. 

    4. have been accepted to prospective school

  3. This educational support and scholarship program is open to students of all ages. 

  4. Preference will be given to those students who have not been given a previous award, but previous recipients are encouraged to apply.
     

 Application Requirements:

  1. Please submit a short essay, 500-1000 words, describing your ideas on how to make Buckingham County the best place to live, work, and learn for all people.

  2. Please provide two (2) letters of recommendation. (Non-family members)

  3. Please submit a brief biographical summary to describe:

    1. Yourself, your community/school involvement, hobbies, activities, and the school you will, or currently, attend

    2. How this scholarship will benefit you, and

    3. What are your future career goals

: Please complete the scholarship application form below, the 500-1000 essay, the biographical summary and school verification acceptance (class enrollment is preferred) and send via email to: SouthJamesRiverCF@gmail.com 

Or give to Buckingham High School Guidance Counselor: lranson@bcpschools.org or bpannell@bcpschools.org. The application will not be accepted or reviewed without all requirements being met.

 

 All applications and materials must be received by March 22, 2024 at 11:59 P.M.
